Another great ride...

I luff my new pony. She is such a star! So easy to ride and learns super fast.

Waiting to ride...wearing her mask to stop her chewing the neighbours new rails!

First ride...

Had my first ride today on Molly, other than when I went to try her - and on that day all I did was once around the arena at trot and one canter circle - and all on one rein only lol.

She's got no idea of contact of course, but works in a cute frame even if its not correct. She has a lovely trot and an awesome canter - really well balanced though I did get off her back for the canter as she is just a baby and not used to having someone sit on her - or at least not someone my size, she's more used to someone 10kg lighter lol.

My bridle is way too big though, and the bit was hanging a bit in her mouth. Its the smallest bridle I own, so I think I need to reinvest in something smaller!!

She's only been ridden once before post racing, so its all very new to her. She was awesome today - stood tied to the rail while Leanne rode Fabian, and then I got on her and rode her. Someone else was in the arena and I thought there might be some fun and games, but she was really settled even when they came cantering towards her.

First lunge...

Mollie got new shoes on on Wednesday, and today was her first day of life as a sporthorse. The roundpen is full of water due to all the heavy rain we had earlier in the week, but she just trotted through without a care.

Then decided at the end of the session that it was quite fun to play in the water...

Merry Christmas to me!

This is my Xmas present to myself. She is a beautiful USA x NZ bred TB, and had her last race on 6 December. Well actually, her only race. She had 3 trials, came last in all of them, and then had one race on 6 December in Wellington where she finished 15th out of 16 horses. Way to go!
Needless to say she then got sacked, and I bought her a few days ago.
Bred at Mapperly Stud in the Waikato, she is by an American shuttle stallion, and though she was bred to perform...she just never did lol.
Im sure she will be a better sporthorse than she would a racehorse!
